Studio 06U design topic and site were inspired by an example of good practice (Mihailo TimotijeviÄ and Miroslava Petrovic-BalubdziÄ project of Regional Center of Industrial Heritage Senjski Rudnik), with the methodology that is in line with the motives and goals of the HERSUS project.

The process and results of the design Studio 06U, provide critical insight how to ensure the sustainability of urban heritage through efforts to preserve the landscape of the mining settlement, transforming buildings to promote industrial heritage and providing additional quality by introducing new activities, confirming the importance of all four aspects of adaptive reuse and enabling continuity in the idea, tradition and significance of industrial heritage at all three spatial levels. By affirming the spatial levels in relation to which the design proposals are developed – landscape, building, activities – the results of the design studio confirm the concept of multiscalarity in the context of urban heritage which emphasizes the importance of understanding the location in a broader sense, observing the broader context of the city and the region, in order to fully consider the integration of the inherited space into the flows of the environment and the natural landscape.
In the presence of representatives from the Coal Mining Museum Senjski Rudnik and citizens, and accompanied by the School for musical talents from the city of Äuprija, an exhibition of student works was opened on May 21st 2022. The exhibition titled Post-industrial landscape: Transformations of the urban zone of Senjski Rudnik was organized and opened in the Senjski Rudnik, activating the open space behind the Coal Mining Museum in the hope that with this activity Faculty of Architecture – University of Belgrade continued theĀ positive changes in culture of reuse of public space.
